TBWA gave the country of China its first Gold Lion at the 2008 Cannes Lions Festival
Andy Blood and John Merrifield are both Creative of the Year
Media magazine in 2008 named Andy Blood and John Merrifield as joint winners of the Creative of the Year title. This is the first time in the history of the awards two creatives have been jointly honoured.
Most Creatively Recognized Network in the World
TBWA\ named Creativity magazine’s “Most Creatively Recognized Network in the World” in 2007, ADWEEK’s “Global Agency Network of the Year,” and number one in North America for Advertising Age’s “Agency A-List.”
adidas named "Advertiser of the Year"
adidas was named “Advertiser of the Year” at ADFEST 2008 – with 4 TBWA agencies from around the region including China, India, New Zealand and Hong Kong contributing to the success.
Dogs Still Rule
2008 saw the evolution of the Pedigree Adoption Drive. The drive was launched in conjunction with the first “Dogs’s Rule” advertising campaign in 2005 and has raised $3.5 million to date for about 3,400 shelters across the country and won a grand Kelly award. Pedigree’s Times Square pop-up store was also a big hit and after only two weeks raised $4,500. This year alone, Pedigree has raised over $750,000 giving thousands of shelter dogs a place to call home.
Apple Continues to Lead the Digital Revolution
Apple continued its 23-year legacy with the newly formed Media Arts Lab creating global campaigns for Mac Music, iPhone and Apple TV. While all the work continued to be a highlight for the network, the iPhone launch was cited in USA Today as one of “the most successful marketing efforts ever.” Apple was also awarded the prestigious Grand EFFIE for the “Get A Mac” Campaign at the 2007 EFFIE awards.
People in the News
Keith Smith was named Media magazine’s Regional Agency Head of the Year for 2007. Lou Dela Pena of TEQUILA\Singapore won “Business Development/Suit of the Year,” and Carisa Bianchi, President of TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles, was named 2007/08 Leader of the Year by ThinkLA, the largest advertising industry organization in Southern California.
TBWA Worldwide and Lew'Lara Partner in Brazil
TBWA Worldwide and Lew’Lara formed Lew’Lara\TBWA in Brazil. Lew’Lara was founded by Luiz Lara and Jaques Lewkowicz, and is one of the most successful and highly regarded agencies in Brazil. Brazil is an extremely important market for our clients, it is ranked fifth in the world in Purchasing Power Parity by Ernst & Young.
TBWA\Chiat\Day Recognized by the Gunn Report
TBWA\Chiat Day (New York and Los Angeles) was recognized by the Gunn Report as the most awarded agency in the world in 2007. The New York office was also recognized as the “most awarded agency” in Creativity’s 2007 listings.
TBWA\Germany Wins Euro and GWA EFFIE
In 2007 TBWA\Germany led the national EFFIE ranking, including both the Euro EFFIE and the GWA EFFIE results. Teams from Hamburg and Berlin have contributed to win altogether two Gold and two Bronze EFFIEs. Beiersdorf and adidas were the honored clients. Work for NIVEA Visage and Body each received a Bronze Euro EFFIE. And the adidas +10 campaign, developed in the creative alliance with 180 Amsterdam, has won a Gold Euro EFFIE as well as a golden GWA EFFIE.
All Around Success at the One Show
TBWA Worldwide outscored all other networks at the 2008 One Show to be named the most awarded network. The network received 17 Pencils across the festival, including awards in Interactive, TV, Print, Radio, OOH and Self-Promotion. TBWA was also well represented at the 2008 Andy Awards, winning 18 network awards for Apple, PlayStation, Skittles, Amnesty International, Aides and Nissan.

After more than 25 years as one of the most beloved and awarded advertising of all time, the iconic ABSOLUT campaign is still going strong. From an ideal vodka comes a vision of an ideal world. An “ABSOLUT WORLD.” The new campaign increased visibility, distribution and consumer recall while reactivating consumer engagement, both in a bar and in culture.
Masterfoods named "Client of the Year"
In its 2007 awards report, Creativity magazine ranked Masterfoods the 2nd most-awarded client. The annual One Show also honored Masterfoods Mars as its 2007 “Client of the Year” for TBWA\Chiat|\Day New York’s work on Snickers, Skittles, Combos and Starburst.
TBWA\Paris Continued Success
TBWA\Paris continues to be strong both in client awards and new business. The agency was recognized as “Advertising Agency of the Year” at the Grand Prix des Agences de l’Année and also the 2nd most awarded agency at Eurobest. TBWA\Paris won awards for their clients at the Epica Awards, Eurobest, Effies, Cannes, Andys and One Show.
10 successful years in Asia Pacific
TBWA\Asia Pacific marks its 10th Anniversary in 2006 and was recognized by Media magazine for the second year in a row as the Asia Pacific "Agency of the Year." TEQUILA\ Asia Pacific was named One-2-One "Agency of the Year."
